El Túnel

by Ernesto Sabato

"The Tunnel" written by E. Sabato is one of the most important and known Sabato's book, and not for any reason, this book is more than interesting, it is full of intrigue, regret, pasion, among other feeelings.

To begin with, the main character started to talk about a crime that commited himself. Juan Pablo Castel, the main character, is responsible of the Maria's death. Showing a kind of regret the main character can express he is sorry of his acts, but not just the acts he did, but the men's attitude, and behaviour.

Juan is always complaining about life, and the way other people are, nobody can understand him, no one, just Maria, the girl he had killed. Juan was an artist,he was in his exhibition, showing his painting "motherhood", he tried to avoid critics, he hated them, because for him, they were kind of boaster and talkative. In that momment he met Maria, a girl who appreciate the details of the painting. In addition, the book show an excellent intention of demostrate the details of the real world, how a man almost fall in love with a girl inmediatly, as Juan, who then decide to follow María, arrived toward her house, it did not matter what people said, juan continued with his thoughts. Even though, it is a story about love, it was not a mutual feeling, reaching such a point that Juan told her if they do not see each other, he will kill her. Also, jelous is an important issue because that detonate to kill María.

Other people can think it is a violent book, with a lot of bad feelings which can affect other ones, nevertheless a good book makes you feel all the possible feelings, and this is not the exception, Ernesto Sabato show an ordinary story that turned another color afterwards. Furthermore, the book show a common world, with people whom you can meet at some part of your life, or maybe you already know them; that is the idea of this author. Taking real life stories or facts, it envolves feelings and characters you can easily know at the corner of the street.

Everything stated, Ernesto Sabato's book show a great history full of feelings an common characters that you can know in the real life, not just on books, introducing yourself into the history.

I love that book!!! It is in fact one of my fetishes! I just love twisted minds, and Sábato is definitely one. I think that book tells much more than just a simple love story.
