El Fútbol en Chile

El fútbol en Chile by Antonino Vera, that was the first book I chose, thereafter, I learnt more than history than I expected to.

First of all, the book was interesting and covered in our origins as society. Did you know the British colonist were the first ones whom played football in our country?, Have you ever heard about "el gringo loco"? or even, Did you know that Valparaiso was the first city that saw a ball of football?. The main idea of the author is introduce readers to our culture and how the football support our country. Also, the book was published in 1973, nevertheless, Pinochet cut it and many of those books were destroyed, just imagine how culture, and representation of the reality the book has.

I was completely shocked when I knew about football origins, there are lots of answers, but nobody knows what is the right one, even there are data which says that in the year 296 people in China played the Tsu-Chun the first sign of football. However. it is not a matter of name, but it is a matter of history, many cultures called it in different ways, such as in Britain, where it was called Mob-Football, or in Italy football was named Calcio. Footbal was more than a name or a sport different of rugby, football was a sport that define a culture in the desire to avoid problems, wars, revolutions and everything.

The link or relationship that links me with the text is that I really learnt more than my country, besides, the history or the beginning of the national footbal is absolutely similar than the chilean history. It was a way to link me with my culture and the traditions of my place, therefore, it was a way to see how chileans are, the manner of our actions and how the solutions affect the starting of new things.

Summing up, The text in itself contain pieces of information about our society, ancestors, importan people whom changed the actual viewpoint about politics, sports, and society, as well. If we say that nowadays are problems, some revolutions, deficiencies in sport, always is a good way to know what will happen in the future reading about the same problems, I mean, in the past were similar or the same problems than we have now, there are no changes, and an excellent way to know what is happenig, could be reading a book about the problems that are happening. I really want to recommend this book to people who are interest in football and history, they'd really learn about our society and football too ;).
